I just filled up my Flickr-account with junk. Visit http://flickr.com/photos/30775561@N02/ to see the action.

Only 100MB since I’m so cheap etc.

Okay, that’s probably not true, it will never be finished :-)

Anyway, I’ve done some minor changes to the CSS of my webbased DNS-admin tool for PowerDNS, makes it a little more presentable.

DNS Admin

Tonight I’m working on some more features, like templates for adding generic records to zones etc., and I’m doing a few more GUI-changes. Hopefully it’s getting close to a public release, that would be pretty cool.

The tool itself is written in Perl using the Catalyst MVC-framework.

Trickery to Coca Cola

So today we have visitors from some other office-locations, some country in the north called Stryn and some other country in the eastern plaguelands called Sweden. Anyway, here at work we have had the greatest fear from entering the neighbor office to see if there’s a vending machine for cola there. We’ve seen the truck delivering items for it for some time now (couple of years at least).

Finally some unknowing fearless guy got tricked to see if they had anything in there, and he succeeded! This may be a new era for this company with a new cola supply source. Congratulations!

I’ve recently noticed that many popular web services add the keyword ‘BETA’ to their solutions. I have also done this now and I believe the business will be booming just about now.

Admittedly, there are a few bugs – but people like you (Let’s call you the ‹Web 3.0› -people) seem to enjoy bugs and malfunctions in commercial supported software and services. This site however, is not commercial supported and can therefore hide behind the BETA-classification without any shame at all.

One night in the garage

My car finally got one night in the garage, and to show its appreciation it refuses to start this morning. Probably low power on the BRAND NEW BATTERY or something, what do I know .. After a few hours of oil checks, refills, cuddling and kicking it finally starts with a big cough. This has happened once before .. Maybe I should do something about it.

The cat also lives in the garage at nights. We haven’t broken down any doors or created any holes in the wall for it to crawl through, so he stays outside every night. I don’t want to get up in the night every time he wants to go outside or anything. He seems to like the garage though, so everything is okay.

Here’s a picture of him:

So we moved in to the new house two weeks ago and got internet from Telenor (adsl) last Monday. Works really well, 14.4Mbit. The new house is very big, we don’t need to move things around to get past them anymore, which is nice.

I’ve bought two Apple Airport Express access points to extend the wlan from the top floor to the living room. 802.11n-draft gives theoretical 300Mbit, improvement over my previous 54Mbit.. However, the ethernet-port is just 100Mbit, more than enough for laptops, mobile phones and the media center I guess.

The house is kinda cold since we don’t have any ovens in the living room. It came with an inverter that supposedly will heat the whole house. It just has one minor (read: major) flaw.. It won’t work when it’s below zero Celsius outside. So a project for the summer might be to install a good old oven.

So I’m currently fixing stuff in the old house, painting and polishing. Hopefully I’ll be done with that in a couple of days. Then we’ll announce the house for sale.
